Runbook & scaling
A short guide to what we have, when to grow, and what it could cost.
Today. Vercel hosts this console; Contabo runs both apps, staging, and databases. Live capacity is loading. Services shows health and schema; History shows trends; Breakdown helps identify heavy workloads.
When to grow. Investigate disk at 80% and restore at least 25% free by reviewing old builds and moving retained media off-server. If CPU stays above 75% or RAM above 80% for 15 minutes during normal traffic, inspect the workload first. If render waits also exceed 2 minutes, test an 8-vCPU / 24-GB host or a separate render worker. These are starting thresholds, not tested user limits.
How to upgrade. Verify a backup, test in staging, then schedule the VPS resize or worker migration. Adjust container limits and rendering concurrency, and compare API latency and queue times afterward. A separate worker needs shared media storage and private queue/database access.
Monthly budget. Allow $20–40 for the next compute tier as a planning estimate; confirm the regional quote. Add Vercel Pro from $20 and, as an optional storage example, 100 GB on R2 ≈ $1.50 before free allowances. That is roughly $42–62/month, excluding AI, email, taxes, extra seats, and usage charges. Your invoices are not connected.
Recovery & releases. Daily database snapshots stay on this VPS for 14 days and undergo restore checks. Add off-server copies before relying on them for disaster recovery. Test changes in staging; production deployment requires passing GitHub checks. Live database cutover remains a reviewed maintenance step.
